Organized by Hefei University and Osnabruck University of Applied Sciences, the 13th Sino-Germany Symposium of Applied Higher Education kicks off at HFU on December 1st, as a part of HFU’s 40th anniversary ceremony.
For the first time, over 230 domestic scholars from 93 universities and colleges gather at HFU, communicating with German experts online, on such topics as smart education, industry-education integration, and cultivation of high-quality applied talents.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Pan Maoyuan of Xiamen University remarks that as a well-known internationalized applied university, Hefei University propels the industry-education integration by making full use of its teaching programs for applied talents.
Putting emphasis on the unity of mankind when fighting against COVID-19, Minister Bj?rn Thümler of the Ministry for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony points out, as a platform for mutual learning, Sino-Germany Symposium of Applied Higher Education, aims to promote coordinated growth of higher education and modern industries.
Thomas Elz, the special envoy for the Consul-General of the Consulate General of Germany in Shanghai claims that the Symposium is essential for the normalized long-term cooperation and the consolidation of partnership.
Andreas Bertram, President of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences emphasizes that universities of applied sciences shall be more committed in promoting smart education, industry-education integration, and high-quality applied talents cultivation, who should maintain a strong sense of social responsibility, proactively influence the future development of human society, and support the whole transferring process in areas from digitalization to a sustainable development.
Wang Qidong, Chair of HFU Council remarks that by utilizing the superiority of international collaboration, Hefei University, continuously furthers its cooperation and exchanges in education and culture and localizes the schooling experience of our German counterparts.
In the keynote speech session after the opening ceremony, five experts, share their thoughts and concerns on applied higher education.
Afterwards, with heartfelt thanks for the experts’ reports, HFU President Wu Chunmei notes that these reports analyze the current situations and future development trends of applied higher education in China and Germany, which will better our understanding of applied higher education in both countries, and push forward the mutual cooperation and exchanges of higher education.
Sino-Germany Symposium of Applied Higher Education has been held for 13 sessions alternatively between Lower Saxony and Anhui Province since 2008, which has gradually become a stabilized and normalized exchange platform for higher institutions in China and Germany.
